How to access orkut.com anonymously?

Orkut, the Google online community, uses the HTTPS protocol for their internal pages. HTTPS stands for "HTTP over SSL", all data between client and server is encrypted. This is the reason why Orkut cannot be accessed using regular proxies! They do not have SSL support built-in.

The following ways to access Orkut anonymously would still work:

• A CGI web proxy which supports SSL.
  Two big lists of web proxies can be found at Proxy.org and Freerk.com . Some of these might support SSL.
• An anonymous HTTP proxy which supports SSL.
  These are very uncommon and even if you find one, chances are it will be very slow.
• Use an anonymous proxy network like TOR. (SUGGESTED!)
  This might be your best bet. To use TOR, you have to have the proper rights on your computer to install an application. You cannot use this on public PCs on which you have limited Windows user privileges! 
  The windows "Tor + Privoxy + Vidalia" bundle download is an out-of-the-box proxy solution which works with Orkut and other HTTPS pages straight away. Performance may suffer a bit because of encryption, but it will still be much faster than eg. a web proxy.
